Trip: Dallas

Perot Museum of Nature and Science

Giddy up into the pretty ol' city of Dallas..

Where I woke up after a very long night of drinking. Well technically I woke up at 3 am and heaved myself into a car filled with my boyfriend and his little brother. We were headed to Dallas to drop his little brother off at the airport, so we turned it into a nice little day trip!

After the airport, we made a pit stop. We drove by a bunch of large office buildings and figured one of their parking lots would make a nice place to nap. We drove into an empty parking lot, reclined our seats, and shut our eyes for an hour. There's no shame when you're tired.

The Shed at the Dallas Farmer's Market

Next, we headed to the Farmer's Market for breakfast. It was nice to wander around the booths, but their samples were even nicer. We ended up noshing on a cup of elote, a cup of cajun rice and beans, and spankopita with a dash of greek coffee. It was all delicious, but the greek food was AMAZING.

Enjoying delicious greek coffee.

No trip would be complete without some time at the museum, so we spent the afternoon looking for parking. Just kidding... kind of. We found parking a couple blocks away and we walked our little tushies to the stunning Perot Museum of Nature and Science. Even if you don't go inside, the building itself is a must see!

Next on our itinerary was a visit to the hip Bishop Arts District. Remember earlier when I talked about the amazing greek food? Well, we found its challenger.

This little Cuban stand of deliciousness had me like 😍. If you visit Dallas, please visit this. Ugh, so good I can't even bear to think about it. Since we just stopped for a snack, we each got a small taco and split some yucca fries. Again, so damn good.

Dude, Sweet Chocolate shop in the Bishop Arts District. The owner was pretty excited to show us his photo with Wayne Coyne when we said we were from OKC.

Afterwards we wandering around the arts district until our feet couldn't move any more and our energy was drained. Before we headed to McKinney for dinner, we stopped by the Sprinkles Cupcake ATM.

So, disappointing.

Maybe it was because I was hangry and had to wait in line while a million people snapped photos before and after they got their cupcake. But by the time I finally got mine, it didn't even taste that good. Would not recommend.

We finished off the day with dinner and coffee with my family in McKinney. What a cute little town, that I neglected to take photos of. Oops.

All around a really nice and successful trip. Despite being so close, I haven't been to Dallas since I was a kid. It was so wonderful to get out of OKC for a day and enjoy a mini-vacation with Austin.

Until next time... Adios!
